European Union’s antitrust regulations possibly breached by Microsoft’s inclusion of Teams
It appears that neither of the attempts made had any impact on dissuading the Commission from accusing Microsoft of violating competition regulations.
It appears that neither of the attempts made had any impact on dissuading the Commission from accusing Microsoft of violating competition regulations. This verdict was anticipated when the Competition authority announced back in May its intention to investigate Microsoft’s potential anticompetitive actions involving Teams, despite the company’s efforts to comply.
In response, Microsoft intends to address any remaining issues raised by the Commission regarding Teams while awaiting further decisions, including any potential financial implications that the company could face.
“After detaching Teams and taking preliminary steps towards interoperability, we acknowledge the additional clarity provided today and are committed to finding suitable solutions to resolve the remaining concerns of the Commission,” stated Brad Smith, who serves as the Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, in an email statement sent to Computerworld.
